Eric DeCosta is Out

According to profootballtalk Eric DeCosta is staying put.

Another blunder by the Bears.

If you want to lure in top GM candidates you need to have a coaching vacancy as well. Most GMs will want to pick their own coach, as PFT points out, this may have kept DeCosta from leaving.

The Bears Top Candidates for General Manager

1. Eric DeCosta – Ravens Director of Player Personnel

  • Obvious best choice here, has a proven track record of drafting quality defense, what the Bears are known for.

2.  Les Snead – Falcons Director of Player Personnel

  • Has helped bring the Falcons out of the Michael Vick mess and into the playoffs in a very short time.

3.  Bill Polian – Former Colts GM

  • I would not be a big fan of this hire. I’m sorry, but if you have the best QB ever on your team you should have more than 1 Super Bowl in the last 13 years.

4. Lake Dawson – Titans VP Football Operations

  • Has had great success with the Titans, is ready to take the next step

Other Notables who may be coming in for interviews.

Steve Keim – Arizona Cardinals Director of Player Personnel
Ray Farmer – Chiefs Director of Player Personnel
Tom Telesco – Colts Director of Player Personnel
Ryan Grigson – Eagles Personnel Director
George Paton – Vikings Director of Player Personnel
